About Legal in Penn

Legal in Penn is an independent guide to Pennsylvania law for the people who live, work, drive and visit here. We answer the questions people actually type into a search bar, such as whether something is legal in Pennsylvania, what a new law changes and what happens if you break a rule, and we answer them clearly, with the statute behind each answer.

What we cover

Our guides cover the parts of state law that touch daily life: marijuana and hemp, driving and window tint, guns and carry rules, divorce and custody, work and pay, gambling, abortion and health, renting and property, courts and crime, and the outdoors. Each guide is filed under a topic hub so related answers stay together.

How we write

  • Short answer first. Every guide opens with a direct yes, no or it depends, and the statute behind it.
  • Primary sources. We read the statute, the regulation or the court decision itself, not someone else’s summary. Our editorial policy lists the sources we use.
  • Dated and logged. Each guide shows when it was last verified and what changed, and our corrections policy explains how we fix errors.
  • Pennsylvania-specific. Where Philadelphia, Pittsburgh or another municipality adds its own rule, we say so.

Who writes Legal in Penn

Corinne follows the Pennsylvania General Assembly and reads the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, the Pennsylvania Code and appellate decisions to keep every guide current. Corinne is not a lawyer, and nothing on this site is legal advice.
